Knock with your whole being and it shall be opened.

Humans seek very many things. A partner who understands them. Good-natured, mellow children. A satisfying job. Money (sometimes, lots of it). A healthy body. A sharp mind. A house, a car, a pet. Thrill and travel. Awards and recognitions. A nice life. A peaceful death. Some humans even seek crazier, more transient things – extreme power, anti-aging, life in space, violence, and the like.
But not all of us seek a Guru.
Not until all that we ever seeked proves to be pointless. Not until some great grief or misfortune makes it clear beyond doubt that human life is so fragile and uncertain. Not until the Heart cannot go on beating anymore without knowing the Truth of who one is.
Then, the seeking begins. The prayers, the tears, the unquenchable urge for liberation calls out to God. The longing to have clear and true guidance on this path to God deepens, and a Guru is sought.
To find one’s Guru means that one has fully opened to the rain of grace ever pouring on one, for the meeting is the beginning of the end of personhood. Of the merging of oneself with the unborn. Of the dissolution of separation. When one is determined to lose oneself in God and holds steadfast to the pointings of the Guru, the Guru’s grace will see one through the undulating waters of samskara to the infinite ocean of Being.
To find a Guru is a blessing ordained by grace. And by grace, one walks back home to the Heart.
This Guru Purnima, we bow down to the immense grace that has brought us to our Guru Leowe. It is hard to describe how this burning to know oneself could be the sweetest and the most gentle caress for the longing inside the Heart to return home. And walking this path in the Presence of a living master enkindles this burning. We surrender to the Love that you are, Guruji. May the ego veiling the true Self be swept off to nothingness by your grace.
