Mental Health & Responsible Seeking

Are the teachings, meetings, and satsangs a form of therapy? Can they replace medical treatment?

No, the teachings, 1:1 meetings, and the group retreats are neither a form of therapy nor a replacement for medical diagnosis and treatment. They are all powerful tools that could lead sincere seekers to uncover all that is not their real Self, ultimately leading them to Self-realisation. But they are not meant to be a substitute for medical diagnosis and treatment.

Are meetings with Presence suitable for someone with a mental health or psychiatric disorder?

For someone who has previously received or is receiving therapy or medical treatment for mental health issues, the meetings and retreats might feel overwhelming. This is because being in Presence brings up to the surface all that is not you – latent traumatic imprints or tendencies – and this could lead to strong thoughts, emotions, and feelings being triggered. While the teachings and the meetings may offer the possibilities and opportunities to release and transcend them altogether, the process might feel arduous for those who have previously dealt with or are currently dealing with a mental health condition. So we recommend you to consult with a medical or mental health clinician if it would be suitable for you to be in Presence at this time.

Can a meeting with Presence cause mental health issues?

No, Presence is Love and does not cause any mental health issues. But as it might bring to the surface suppressed memories and emotions, someone with a mental health issue might find it overwhelming and might need the support of a medical health professional.

So someone with a mental health condition cannot pursue Self-realisation?

Experiencing a mental health condition cannot impede your Self-discovery. However, it would be advisable to seek medical guidance when necessary and when it gets too intense to handle the emotions that arise. With appropriate care from one’s medical team, one could pursue the path to awakening in a more supportive environment.
